Step into a sacred space of healing, guided by the wisdom of Māori spiritual traditions. This immersive wānanga (retreat) offers a powerful introduction to the philosophies and practices of traditional Māori healing, including Mirimiri and Romiromi bodywork.

During our days together, you will be gently guided to develop your own spiritual awareness, understand the importance of spiritual safety, and cultivate tools to support your own growth and consciousness not only within healing practices, but in everyday life. We use stories and songs of our ancestors to share this wisdom. One of the foundations of what we discuss is whakapapa – that is the lineage of our bloodlines. Through this lineage there is ancestral trauma and pain – as well as the gifts and wisdoms these lines hold as well. We look at health from a (w)holistc and our bodywork modality touches our spiritual bodies, our energetic and emotional as well as physical parts of our bodies in which pain and dis-ease manifests. Our waananga is deeply grounded in our connection back to Papatuaanuku, our mother earth.

This wānanga lays the foundation for entering sacred healing realms, supporting you to reconnect with yourself, your intuition, and the unseen realms.

The Healing Modalities

Mirimiri is the Spiritual Connection
Mirimiri is a form of healing that comes before physical touch. It is intuitive and deeply connected to ancestors and metaphysical. Subtle yet powerful, it works through perception, inner knowing, and energetic awareness, allowing healing to permeate the body on a profound level.

Romiromi is the Physical Awakening
Romiromi is a deep, transformative bodywork practice.

Romi is to work the internal systems: organs, blood, tissues, muscles

Mi is to stimulate te hā (breath of life), releasing blockages and restoring flow

Together, Mirimiri and Romiromi are symbiotic practices, working hand in hand to support holistic healing of body, mind, and spirit.

About Ruatau Perez

Ruatau (Nga Puhi and Ngai Tuhoe) was introduced to traditional indigenous healing as a boy by his grandmother. Later on in life he met renowned Tohunga (medicine man) Papa Joe Delemere. Learning and training with him for 10 years up until his passing. Since 2000 Ruatau has carried on sharing the wisdom known as Whare Waananga Lore.

Ruatau lives and breathes Rongoaa Maori both in his private practice (which has over a 12 month waiting list to see him specifically) as well as sharing, teaching and passing on this knowledge so others from all cultures and corners of the world can experience the profound depth and groundedness that Maori spirituality has retained. “Now is the time for this wisdom to be shared both for individual and personal healing but to remember and deepen our connection to mother earth as she and humanity make this next shift in evolution.”
